Whether you're a long-time, repeat visitor to the Tennessee or are renting your first log cabin, questions are only natural. Location, amenities, space and cost are all important bits of information you'll need to make a booking decision. However, don't forget to ask these 5 vital questions to ensure your vacation is everything you hope it will be.
1. How easy is it to get to the cabin?
While some new visitors to the Smoky Mountains may think that log cabins are difficult to reach, this is not true. Most Tennessee rental cabins are on well-maintained roads and are easily accessible by car, SUV or truck. What's more, the majority of the cabins are located close to exciting attractions and/or sights that you and your family will love!
2. Is it in the setting you prefer?
Do you want a community location where you're close to neighboring cabins? Or would you prefer more privacy?
Do you pine for a cliff-side cabin with breathtaking mountain views? Or a densely wooded setting with easy access to hiking trails? Do you require a level area where kids and pets can play safely?
What about local attractions? Does the cabin offer convenient access to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Ober Gatlinburg, and other popular destinations? Is it reasonably close to restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations?
Website pictures provide a wonderful overview, but they simply can't depict every detail.
3. What do I need to bring?
Most cabin companies provide just about everything you need except for food and toiletries. You'll typically find your cabin equipped with a grill, television, VCR, towels, wash cloths, blankets and linens. You'll also have use of the completely equipped kitchen including microwave, coffeemaker and toaster. Disposable items such as toilet paper and paper towels are furnished for your arrival, but, depending on how much you use, you may need to purchase more.
Plus, you can look forward to:
Things you'll want to bring from home include hairdryer, shampoo, soap and other toiletries.
4. Does your log cabin rental have the amenities you want?
What's your pleasure? Four-person hot tub? Jacuzzi? Pool table? Big-screen TV? Luxury furnishings? Fire pit? Foosball? Swimming pool?
Whatever you're looking for, you can find it in the Tennessee mountains. Just be sure you learn ahead of time whether the cabin you like has the specific amenities you prefer.
5. How much will it cost?
Ask about seasonal rates, off-season savings, minimum stays, and fees and taxes. Make sure you learn upfront what you're getting into, so you'll avoid unpleasant surprises.
When you have a complete plan, you'll find top-quality Smoky Mountain rental companies that deliver everything you want… and nothing you don't!
About Leif Palmer
Leif Palmer loves residing in east Tennessee. He is an avid outdoorsman: rowing for exercise on the lake, trail hiking, and free climbing rocks in the mountains. He indulges his arty side by periodically beating up pieces of marble by sculpting. He is always frustrated by his inability to sink long putts, and hates his curly hair (but his wife loves it). Leif has been known to muster enough courage to change a diaper, and hopes his son will become a chip off the old block.
